Årdal lies in the middle of everything, where the Sognefjord comes ashore and you find your way into Jotunheimen through Utladalen . Årdal is a national park municipality with 30% of its area within the borders of Jotunheimen National Park . Here you will find hikes to spectacular viewpoints, Vettisfossen with its free fall of 275 meters, authentic cultural landscape in Utladalen landscape conservation area , heated outdoor pool in the center of both the town in Øvre Årdal and Årdalstangen. In addition, it offers Årdal on some of them really classic mountain hikes Jotunheimen has to offer, and you can join a paddling course, a paddle trip or a guided hike with Bulder & Brak Opplevingar . If you would rather be on board a boat, you can book a place on the historic M/B Tya and get a guided fjord cruise in the inner part of the Sognefjord.

To come to Årdal you can also choose the beautiful roads over the mountain - either from Turtagrø across Tindevegen to Årdal , or by following road 53 along the fjord from Sogndal/Lærdal and into Årdal , or if you come from the east on highway 53 from Tyinkrysset to Årdal These routes are tourist attractions in themselves with views of the great peaks of Jotunheimen .
