Vormeli
Vormeli is located far north in Utladalen in the West Jotunheimen There has previously been farming here for periods and there has been a dairy farm here.
Today's stone hut is so primitive that we have classified it as a hut, but it is perfectly possible to spend the night here for 3-4 people. The hut has benches with mattresses, a stove and fireplace, in addition to wood and a gas stove in the front room.
Steinbua can be used all year round, but does not have bedding. Guests must bring a sleeping bag and food.
A little history
The name "Utladalsholet" has also been widely used for Vormeli Utladalen Naturhus currently manages the maintenance of the building, accommodation and care of the cultural landscape.
A group called Vormelis Venner restored one of the houses in the mid-1970s and was then responsible for its maintenance until 2014. Since then, Utladalen Naturhus took responsibility, in agreement with Vormelis Venner, and the owner of the site, which is Eide Gard in Luster.
Vormeli was the starting point for Slingsby, Mohn and Lykken's famous trip to Store Skagastølstind, where Slingsby managed to reach the top, while his friends waited in the sker between Store and Vetle, which has been named Mohn's Skar.
Slingsby is officially credited with being the first to reach this peak, which is often called "Storen" in Norwegian.
