IN Årdal Outdoor pools have existed since the 1960s, and the pools are still popular with both locals and visitors.

Upper Årdal :

The pool area in Øvre Årdal consists of three pools - a splash pool for the little ones, a medium-sized pool for those practicing swimming and a large pool with heated water and slides. The local sports club runs a kiosk right next to the pool, so everything is ready for you to enjoy the day. The heated pool means that the weather is not an obstacle - you can swim here regardless of the air temperature. The open-air pool is located 200 meters from the center. Tickets at the entrance.

Bring the whole family on a 3-hour paddle trip in sturdy tandem kayaks. If you want to paddle in single kayaks, you can of course do that too. You can choose between paddling on Årdalsvatnet or on the Sognefjord. Bulder & Brak Opplevingar plans the trip according to the smallest in the group, and takes plenty of time on the trip, stopping and going ashore at nice places. Hiking in Utladalen is an experience for both young and old. The valley is very lush and deep, and offers powerful waterfalls and dramatic scenery. Take the trip from Hjelle and up to the mountain farm Avdalen Gard , you can stay overnight in beautiful surroundings or just visit the summer café to eat good waffles or ice cream. The trip to Avdalen Gard takes about 1.5 - 2 hours on easy terrain. The first part is on a gravel road, before you take a path up to the mountain farm. Sheep graze around the farm, so remember to close all gates - and a cozy little flock of chickens offers fresh eggs for breakfast for those who want them. More information here


4) The tire jungle at Tangen School

The deck jungle at Tangen School is a favorite destination for children and young people in Årdal , and well worth a visit even for tourists. Free entry. Bring food and drinks and relax - the children won't be bored here for many hours. 

The tire jungle is located next to Tangen School on Årdalstangen. You can find it by driving up along the Hæreidselva River. Parking is available at the school.

Institute in Heimre Utladalen Do you find it impressive? Vettisfossen . The trip here can be a bit difficult for the little ones (about 5.5 km one way), but if you take your time, the trip is manageable for most people. A good tip is to bring a bike or stroller on the 4.5 km long Folkevegen, which is the gravel road between Hjelle parking and Vetti Gard By Vetti gard you have to cross the path, so here you have to get your feet wet. Feel free to stop at Vetti Gard and fill up on ice cream and waffles before they go on the last part of the hike to the waterfall. Info about Vettisfossen .


6) Pump track in Seimsdalen

In Seimsdalen there is a brand new facility ready for the cycling-loving family. Here there is nothing but fun for both young and old, and just a short walk away is Seimsdalsstrondi for those who like to swim in the fjord. The fact that Seimsdalen is also the starting point for many fantastic mountain hikes is a good reason to spend the day here. You will find the pump track next to Årdalstangen riding and riding club.
